Abstract
Although the reduction units are well established and used in practice, yet it is possible to use certain mechanisms to obtain speed reduction which is the scope of this work.
A reduction unit consisting of two cam-follower system is used. The followers are attached to the output shaft through positive action unidirectional clutches. A unit was designed, manufactured, and tested for a speed reduction ratio 20 : 1.
The performance of the unit proved the feasibility of the idea. The output motion is exactly uniform. The study includes a complete analysis of such a system.
