ATPase pump were found in gastric parietal cells where it acidify
gastric luminal contents, number of closely related H+
/K+
ATPase isoforms
has been discovered. They are present in organs other than the stomach,
including the colon and kidney, where they contribute to acid-base and
potassium homeostasis it has also been identified in vascular smooth muscle
and myometrial tissue between inner and the midmuscular zone that is very
rich in vascular supply and nerve cells.
So, this study was carried out to evaluate the effect of omeprazole on
myometrial contractility in early and late pregnancy and its safety use in
by measuring its effect on pregnancy outcome.
This study was carried out on 40 pregnant female rats which were further
subdivided into two equal groups (each 20 rats):
I -In vitro groups: divided into two subgroups the myometrial strips were
obtained from them and their muscular reactivity was investigated
Subgroup (1): consisted of ten female rats on day 7 of gestation to study
the effects of omeprazole on the spontaneous and induced contractile activity
of smooth muscles of isolated myometrial strips.
Subgroup (2): consisted of ten female rats on day 19
of gestation to
study the effects of omeprazole on the spontaneous and induced contractile
activity of smooth muscles of isolated myometrial strips. Summary & Conclusion
