Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the changes in bite force recovery in mandibular fracture patients following treatment with miniplate osteosynthesis and maxillomandibular fixation. In this study 22 male patients having mandibular body or angle fractures were selected. Their age ranged from 17 to 30 years with a mean age 22.18±3.99 years. All patients had complete dentition, no history of temporomandibular disorders and no dentofacial deformities. Patients with condylar fractures or comminuted fractures were excluded. Evaluation of the site distribution of fractures revealed that nine patients (40.90%) had mandibular body fractures, 6 patients (27.27%) had angle fractures and 7 patients (31.81%) had angle or body fractures combined with a contralateral body, angle or parasymphyseal fracture. |
