Abstract
The support given by blood transfusion services to health care programmes is essential for modern medical practice. The well-being of these services should therefore be guarded by the communities they serve. Transfusion of blood with high carboxyhemoglobin saturation could be a potential risk in certain groups of patients and in emergency situations.
