Abstract Serum concentration of PTH are often elevated in chronic renal failure, resulting in hyperparathyroid bone disease or osteitis fibrosa. The two major factors responsible development of secondary hyperparathyroidism are phosphorus retention and diminished 1,25 (OH)2D3 .. The two active vitamin D sterols, calcitriol and ex calcidol are effective in suppressing intact parathyroid hormone and treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in chronic renal failure. This study was done to determine senlm 1,25 (OH)2D3 in chronic renal failure patients under haemodialysis therapy in a trial to clarify the effect of its oral therapy in the control of secondary hyperparathyroidism. This study was conducted on 40 patients suffering from chronic renal failure, under haemodialysis and 10 control subjects. Patients |
