Abstract Recently, tissue Doppler imaging has emerged as a new non invasive imaging modality that allowed direct measurement of myocardial velocities throughout the cardiac cycle. The aim of this study was to characterize left ventricular function by TDI after a first myocardial infarction when the conventional echo-Doppler parameters showed no abnormalities. The present study included 30 patients presenting with first attack of myocardial infarction and 26 normal healthy individuals as a control group. The 56 patients were subjected to the following: • Thorough history taking. • Full clinical examination. • Cardiac enzymes. • Resting ECG. • Conventional echocardiogram examination of systolic and diastolic function regarding measurement of E, A, E/A and DT. • Pulsed wave tissue Doppler imaging of the systolic function regarding the S wave velocity and the diastolic function regarding the measurement of E,A, Etdi/Atdi at the walls of the basal segment and the mean values were taken. |
