Abstract The use of succinylcholine to facilitate tracheal intubation produces rapid and profound nemomuschlar blockade within SO-SO seconds. But unfortunately, it has many potential lisad vantages. Also, the use of non depolarizing muscle relaxants n high doses or using the priming principle as an alternative to succinylcholine was associated with many side effects. For the previous reasons, a method of providing good and apid intubating conditions without using muscle relaxants has >een sought by a number of investigators. The purpose of this itudy was to find an alternative approach to the use of uccinylcholine or nondepolarizing muscle relaxants for short >perative procedures by studying the efficacy of either propofol or hiopentone in combination with fentanyl and lidocaine for endotracheal intubation in day case surgery. In the present work, the study was carried out on fourty adult iatients, of either sex, their age ranged from 20-40 years, ASA I or physical status, and schedueled for day case surgery where ndotracheal intubation was planned. |
