Abstract ABSTRACT In this research” Study of the dynamic Behavior of Long Structures Having Expansion Joints and Supported on Pile Foundations during Earthquakes”, the structures don’t contain gaps but insulation sheets with laboratory estimated properties. So, it was found that joining the two parts of the structures by Gap elements with stiffness equal to the axial stiffness of the element is the best model for the problem. The stiffness of this element is affected by temperature changes as its length will change with respect to temperature. |
