Abstract

This study was carried on 40 subjects equally divided into four groups: (group A: ten overweight oligozoospermic patients) ,(group B: ten underweight oligozoospermic patients), (group C: ten underweight cases having normal semen) and (group D: ten underweight cases having normal semen). They were selected from attendants of Andrology outpatient clinic in Cairo University Hospital.
Medical history was taken, general examination was done to exclude hypogonadal features and local genital examination was done for size, consistency of testes and to exclude varicocele. BMI is calculated.
Fasting blood sugar, semen analysis, and hormonal assay for FSH, LH, E2, total and free testosterone were done.
The results showed that:
Total testosterone level showed significant difference between group A and group B but FSH, LH, E2, T/E2, LH/ FSH and mean sperm concentration showed non significant difference, so we concluded that testosterone hormone is inversely correlated with BMI in oligozoos-permic patients.
Non significant difference in the level of reproductive hormones between group A and group C.
Significant difference in the LH level between group B and group D but FSH, E2, total, free testostereone, T/E2 and LH/FSH ratios showed non significant difference.
