Abstract

The aim of the study was to identify the barriers facing students during application of the nursing process, develop a strategy to overcome such barriers if possible and, evaluate the effectiveness of this strategy. The following are the main findings: As regards the studied sample, (250) students were selected randomly from the ten nursing faculties allocer the arab republic of egypt to participate in the study. They were drawn from each academic year and the internship year. In addition to (60) volunnteered teaching staff with different specialties and job categories, their mean age was 37.8 ±9.12. the highest percentage (38.3%) of them was clinical instructor. Conclusions: These factors were ranked by the students as medical and nursing staff uncooperation, unavailable facilities and equipment, rapid patients turnover, unvavialable patients sheet, uncooperative patient, noisy environment, limited clinical time, limited teachers presence in the clinical setting, and unshared medical round. However teachers ranked them as inadequate and inefficient supplies and equipment, rapid patient turnover, lack of student knowledge, limited clinical time, and limited training places. Recommendation: 1-Based on the findings of the present study, the following recommendation can be deduced: innovative in service educational programs have to be conducted periodically for the teaching staff to update their knowledge and help them master some related practices e.g. physical assessment. 2-All medical and nursing staff working in the hospital should be oriented to the role of the students and they have to know that students are not service giver but they are just trainees.
