Abstract Most cites are made up of buildings from a range of periods in a variety of styles and idioms. Historical sites are considered an important valued site, as they represent a culture memory, identity and a testimony to the passage of time in that particular locality. The development of historic sites must be an integral part of every planning process due to their economic and cultural values. The research is concerned with the revitalization of historic rites through its main facets, focusing on the urban spaces and how it affects the development process. The research has investigated a model evaluation system for the historic sites include a set of issues concluded from the research which are: Quality of space, Activities, Boundaries, Circulation, Landscape, Current policies. The model system has been applied on two selected case studies in Alexandria city, they are chosen due to there importance, as they both form the main landmark to the historical sites in Alexandria city. They also have a distinguish location, historic urban space, tod special urban fabric surrounding them. The study attempts to show that the importance of the historic sites to the city fabric, where the development process must focus on all of the historic sites content, specially on the loie of urban space in the development process and how to study and evaluate the historic sic in order to take the right decision |
