Abstract The consumer, nowadays, requires large varieties in garment styles and searches for better fitness. The road to Egyptian ready made garment (RMG) industry survival is to change its managerial concept from mass production MP to mass customization MC. The Egyptian body is well known with its non standardized body measurements. Therefore the made to measure or customized garment is of a great importance to this industry, although, it has not been given enough attention. First the actual state of the Egyptian industry was investigated. Three mills representing the private, public and investment sectors were studied. A static model representing the information flow between the departments was designed and a dynamic model focusing on the production department was designed using discrete event simulation. Finally a decision support system was made to help the sewing room manager in the day to day decision making.
